NaNoEmo - Day 18 by =Phlum is a classic example of great emote fan art. The suggester said that "while I haven't played the game, I love this emote because of its detail. It's a great representation of the mage it was based on. I am a huge fan of Norse mythology." ( Suggested by =EternalxRequiem and Featured by `stuck-in-suburbia )

=Phlum is a younger emoticonist, but that does not diminish his enthusiasm for the artform or his love for the community one bit. He is active in various projects and community events, and you can often see him watching and supporting newcomers to emoting.

Because =Kath602 is an amazing typo artist.

NaNoEmo - Update

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 19, 2012, 12:32 PM
'Allo. Here's an update on the situation:
My friend has lent me a very small monitor until I can afford a new one (which is gonna be massive, so it'll take a while to save up :giggle:)
Now, this would normally mean that I could make emotes again. HOWEVER. Because of the radical change in screen resolutions and aspect ratios (down from 1440x900 to 1366x768), my preferred image editor, Gimp, will now not work properly in single-window mode. I have no explanation as to why, but the program won't show me the toolbox in single window mode, and the other mode that's not single window mode is far too cramped and cluttered, making emoting extremely inefficient. :grump:

So, don't expect to see any emotes from me until at least after Christmas. Not that I've made many lately anyway :slow:

Oh, and one last thing: Feel free to comment, but I have no idea how to reply to each of the :hug:-related comments already here. I appreciate them, and I'm reading/viewing them all, but it's unlikely I'll reply because I don't want to reply to every comment with the same thing. I'm not a communist I swear! :noes;

Original text follows. ---------------

Well hello there!

I can barely read what I'm writing. Know why? Because my monitor is bust, and the only viable spare that I have is a god-awful television. 8C

I'm sure I've written about this beastie before. Basically, the contrast is terrible, its angle is unalterable and therefore a physical pain to deal with. It's giving me eye strain just writing this!
And this may seem like a cop-out, but due to this, a lack of motivation and an abundance of college work to do, I won't be able to make much more for NaNoEmo. :( Sorry.

There are a load of emoticonists whose pieces you can enjoy! I'd feature some, but this telly is so awful that I can't even see emotes properly.
Or text, for that matter.

Urgh. I'll wrap this one up before my brain suffers. :saddummy:

Looks like a potentially useful feature has (finally) been added to Stash! :dummy:
Beta testers can now fiddle around with adding so-called community emotes in journals and (as far as I know) literature!
Can't be bothered finding the thumbcode for a given emote?  Just grab it from the sidebar.

There's a search thing in which you search for a specific emote - for example, pirates , spacemen , TARDIS  and dinosaurs!
And also more specific stuff like Flump  and Lush
Searching for "sparkles" comes up with less `SparklyDest-related emotes than I aniticipated!

Anyway, yes. This is a rather cool feature and probably means I'll be using Stash Writer more often to write journals.

Here's the official article-y thing Literature Improvements, Emoticon SidebarToday we're bringing you several improvements to your experience with literature and Journals on deviantART!
Updates to Literature Appearance

We've made some changes to the way literature and Journals display on deviantART. In order to provide a more unified experience, we've updated the format of literature deviations and Journals to better display your text, as well as to optimize the reading experience for your readers!
In addition to the updated background, we've made sure that familiar tools for readers have been retained with the new layout. Readers can change the background from light to dark, enlarge the text, and more, using the buttons presented at the top of each literature deviation.

Try it out: You can give this feature a try by going to ^Beccalicious's Biscui

A wild journal appears!

Crikey

I've been overdue a journal entry for quite a while now. :XD: I've never really had the motivation to write one, though. :shifty: Time to get some energy flowing once more...

Where have I been?

Outta my brain on the fiiiiiiiiiiiive fifteeeeeeen--
Sorry.

For a few months, my computer was out of commission due to a lack of PSU. My PC wouldn't switch on one day after taking out my graphics card, so a quick conversation with a friend confirmed my theory that the PSU was at fault. I sent it back to where I got it after several weeks (due to holiday) and didn't get another until a few weeks ago.

Suffice to say, the PSU wasn't the problem. There was a naughty little screw sat behind a PCI slot where I couldn't see it. All that waiting was for naught :shakefist:

The World's New Pinball Lord

Since I got my PC back, I've been playing a hell of a lot of pinball games. I've been collecting a few and my favourite so far is Big Race USA.
I won't bother explaining what it's like since it can be downloaded for free right here: [link]

Speaking of that link right there (which is also here as well) - it's a Kickstarter project for the revival of the world-famous Pro Pinball simulators. The plan is to remake all four of the original tables - namely The Web, Timeshock, Fantastic Journey and Big Race USA - as well as create a new table with Pat Lawlor as the designer.

This is the same bloke that designed some of the most acclaimed tables of all time. Check out IPDB for confirmation ;)

The project needs quite a bit of money, so if you could donate $2 - which will also get you two of the four Pro Pinball sims - that'd be grand. Also, if you could tweet with the hashtag #PinballNeedsYou.
Thanks :)

Not A Complete Slump

I've been working on a little something. Here it is so far:
Emote bases preview
I figured I'd make a load of bases to save time making emotes, 'cause I be lazy ;)
But also for newer emoticonists to start off with before they develop their own shading styles.

I Think...

I'm sure I had something else that I wanted to say, but I can't think what it was. :noes:
It'll come to me.

I have an upcoming DooM project coming up.
It'll be a puzzle 'game', based on a toggle-able direction of gravity.

The project will be called "Roll", named after a psuedo-feature I made that adds a fake roll angle to the game.
Have a look at it!

Hey, i've literally just uploaded a video of some custom DOOM levels I created as a part of a project for Uni.

Check it out, if possible.

Thanks.
